More Savings with the Work Opportunity Tax Credit?

In June, Rhode Island U.S. Senator, Sheldon Whitehouse introduced the Job Creation Tax Credit Act. This program offers tax incentives to businesses to encourage hiring. As an expansion of the HIRE Act of 2010, the Job Creation Act offers higher refundable tax credits to all business that hire qualified new employees. The proposed bill primarily focuses on the 9% of unemployed Americans by offering 15% of wages paid to eligible hires in 2016 and 10% of in 2012 in refundable tax credits. For new hires to qualify they must be unemployed for 60 days or more.
